What does deal registration with Ridgeline promise, and what does it not?

Keystone registered the Bracken Works mounting-hardware project with us before asking for manufacturer support. Theo Baptiste explains what a registration contains, why an approved one is not an engineering approval, and where prices actually come from.

Deal registration promises one thing: that Ridgeline Fabrication knows about a distributor's project before it is asked to support it, and that the manufacturer can make a source-backed decision about that support. It does not promise a warranty outcome, it does not establish engineering suitability for a new use, and it does not set a price. Keystone Industrial Supply registered the Bracken Works mounting-hardware project, valued at $18,400, and the registration was approved. What that approval means is that the scope, the SKUs and the supporting evidence are on record, with Lena Vasquez owning the submission and me owning the channel review.

What goes into a registration?

The account, the expected hardware scope and the supporting evidence. For the Bracken Works registration, that was current-revision mounting hardware around the RB-1200 Rev D kit, recorded with the SKU and quantity against the current catalog reference. The registration keeps the customer scope, the source documents and the next steps together, so that whoever reads it later can make a decision without a phone call.

Lena Vasquez owns the partner submission. I handle the channel review. Those two roles do not swap.

Why register before asking for support?

Because support is a decision, and decisions need sources. A distributor who calls Dana Okafor with a torque question about an unregistered project gets a correct answer about the released spec, but nobody on our side knows what the project is, what it will install or whether the use matches the specification. Registration puts those facts on record first.

What does an approved registration mean?

That the submission was complete and the scope is recognised. It is not a promise of a warranty outcome. It is not a statement of engineering suitability. The Bracken Works registration says so in its own notes: the hardware is RB-1200 Rev D, and engineering suitability remains subject to the released spec. Approval is a channel decision about the relationship. Suitability is an engineering decision about the application.

What must a quotation cite?

The current release. An RB-1200 offer must cite Rev D under ECO-2041. If a quotation attachment carries Rev C, it is corrected before order acceptance. This is the same rule the field engineers apply on site, moved upstream to the moment the order is written. A customer who receives a quotation with the superseded sheet attached will install to it.

What if the use differs from the released specification?

Then the registration should request an engineering check. A catalog lookup establishes product identity, not engineering suitability for a new use. A mounting plate specified for one application does not become suitable for another because it is in stock. The request goes to engineering through the registration, so the question and the answer are both on record.

Where do prices and delivery dates come from?

From the authorised order confirmation. Not from a training catalog entry, not from a registration, and not from a chat answer. The catalog tells you what a product is. The order confirmation tells you what it costs and when it ships. We keep those documents apart because a price quoted from a catalog entry is a price nobody authorised.

What happens to a duplicate or changed request?

It is reviewed, not silently merged. If an account appears twice, or a registered scope changes, somebody reads both versions and decides. Merging quietly loses the history of what was originally registered, and that history is often the thing that resolves a later dispute.

How does certification connect to registration?

Distributor current-SKU certification is checked from the partner learning evidence, not asserted in the registration. A registration from a distributor whose certification evidence is current is read differently from one whose evidence is stale, because the person who will answer the customer's counter questions is the one whose knowledge we have checked.

What does a good registration read like a month later?

Like a case file. The account, the scope, the SKUs and quantities, the catalog reference, the released revision, and any engineering check that was requested and what came back. If a torque question arrives from the Bracken Works site, Dana Okafor can open the registration and see which revision was quoted, before the customer explains anything. If a warranty claim arrives, Priya Raman can see what was supplied and to which specification.

What does a bad one read like?

Like an email thread. A name, a rough quantity, and a promise somebody made on the phone. The registration then has to be rebuilt from memory at the moment memory is least reliable, which is when something has gone wrong. Keeping the scope, the sources and the next steps in the registration is not paperwork for its own sake. It is the only version of the project that will still exist when the people who agreed it have moved on.

Questions and answers

Does an approved registration mean Ridgeline has approved the engineering use?
No. Approval recognises the scope and the relationship. Engineering suitability remains subject to the released specification, and a use that differs from it needs an engineering check requested through the registration.
What must an RB-1200 quotation cite?
Rev D under ECO-2041. A quotation attachment that carries Rev C is corrected before order acceptance, because a customer will install to whatever sheet arrives with the quote.
Where does the price come from?
From the authorised order confirmation. Prices and delivery commitments never come from a training catalog entry, a registration or a chat answer.
Who owns a registration at Keystone and at Ridgeline?
Lena Vasquez owns the partner submission at Keystone Industrial Supply. Theo Baptiste handles the channel review at Ridgeline. The Bracken Works registration, valued at $18,400, followed exactly that path.

How should you read the Ridgeline distributor SKU catalog?

Four SKUs, one rule: a catalog entry tells you what a part is, not what it is approved to do. Theo Baptiste walks through the RB-1200, RF-840, RF-620 and RF-310 entries and the revision notes that travel with them.

How does a distributor become certified on current Ridgeline SKUs?

Keystone Industrial Supply is our independent distributor, and its counter staff answer torque questions before we ever hear them. Theo Baptiste explains the Distributor current-SKU certification path, what it proves, and what it does not authorise.
